What is Hypnosis ?

Hypnosis is a natural state of mind in which we experience a sense of heightened awareness. During this awareness we are able to open our mind to positive suggestions that can allow us to make beneficial changes in our lives.

There is a misconception that by entering a hypnotic trance you are under the control of someone else. This is not the case as each individual actually has more control over themselves in the altered state of hypnosis than they do in a waking state of consciousness.

What is Hypnotherapy ?

Hypnotherapy is the art of addressing the clients subconscious mind during hypnosis. During this relaxed state the Therapist enlists the power of the clients imaginition together with a range of other techniques to make direct suggestions to the subconscious mind to encourage positive change.

Who can be hypnotoised ?

Almost anyone can be hypnotised although some people are more readily hypnotisable than others. The individual also needs to be willing to be hypnotised. Most of us have experiences of trance state many times but we  may not associate these states with hypnosis. Think of a car journey when you find yourself daydreaming and realise much of the journey has passed without notice. This is equivalent to a hypnotic trance.

Hypnotherapy combined with NLP and CBT techniques can be used to successfully resolve many emotional and psychosocial issues.
